Just when we thought that ezines and the internet would take over, and the crowded marketplace of high end glossy lifestyle magazines might have peaked, there's the announcement that USA Today and the Wall Street Journal are coming out with their answer to the New York Times "T" monthly supplement. The luxury market has continued to boom and upscale glossy magazines have followed suit. And in fact, they are fractionalizing. From custom published magazines for hotels, airlines, malls and department stores (check out Bergdorf Goodman's catalogue/magazine), to regional lifestyle and niche magazines (Miami Golf!) in both English and Spanish titles, the category is booming. Despite the talk about the demise of print, I for one think that this category is here to stay. It will probably take its place among expensive coffee table books, which never go out of style.
