Trends :: Pampered Pet Travel

The hot trend in travel is for resorts to cater to pets as well as their owners. In the lives of many people, pets are the "kids", and they dictate travel itineraries.

Indulging the lives of affluent pets and their owners on the road is becoming a necessary marketing tool for hotels and it builds loyalty among patrons. The Ritz-Carlton's pet/guests enjoy the same gracious service and hospitality that have made the company famous among their owners. Dogs and cats up to 20 pounds are invited to lap up the luxury at this elegant hotel and resort, beginning with a special welcome amenity upon check-in- gourmet treats and water bowls start their stay off right. Or why not indulge your pet with a pet massage. On many occasions, the "kids" have appreciated, a taste of the tender filet mignons grilled to commemorate birthdays) pet and owners alike), Valentine's day, or whatever the grounds to celebrate.

But it doesn't stop there. Can't bring Fido? There's now a service doing brisk business called Flex Petz in California, whose Ambassador program offers hotel guests some canine companionship, when traveling without their own dogs. Guests can "rent" pooches for a day or for a weekend. Their website sites that "it's Canine Ambassador program has proven to be a very welcome service for guests to have a companion within the hotel or on walks."
