Lifestyle :: Millionaires Can't Get Enough Coaching

Personal growth is hot in almost every discipline: coaches for college admissions, parenting, retirement, wellness, fitness and life coaches are now familiar, but have you heard about political leadership coaching to help develop and enhance your personal leadership style? In light of this year's presidential race, this may prove to be a hot niche for motivated, civic-minded citizens.

When reading Middle-Class Millionaire, I learned that a common trait among middle class millionaires (a group defined as having net assets of $1 to $10 million) is the use of business coaches. The authors claim that a survey of this group revealed that 45% had hired professional coaches or "life coaches" over a recent three year period and another 42% expected to hire one in the next three years. The reasons given? A need for constant learning and self improvement drives this market segment. The majority of these affluents did not inherit their wealth but earned it, so they are driven individuals by nature and realize the value of having somebody to help them think outside the box.

Lifestyle :: What? Luxury RVs?

You could have imagined my complete and utter shock when I came across the Travel Network the other day. No it wasn't from eyeing pricey pads and inconceivably expensive new technologies, but- hold your breath- RV Aficionados.

RV Aficionados? Wait What? Yes that's what I said.

Lifestyle :: First Slow Food, Now Slow Travel

One of the latest trends is to incorporate something labeled "slow" is travel. Modern travel can take its toll on a person - and on the environment.

One man trying to make a difference is Ed Gillespie, who just returned home after 381 days on the road (from his home in the south London through Europe, Mongolia, Japan, Australia, French Polynesia, Mexico and Central America). He decided to ditch airport security altogether and see the world from the hump of a camel, the bridge of a cargo ship and the seat of a bicycle - none by plane. His blog Slow Travel discusses his slow and low carbon travels, which cites "A round the world trip without flying! Employing every mode of transport available and reveling in the slow movement through landscape, culture, people and language rather than just passing over it all in an aluminum sausage!" His point was to move great distances with the smallest carbon footprint possible.

Lifestyle :: Lifelong Learning Finds a Home

University centered communities are a growing trend in real estate development. Developers have zeroed in on ready and willing Baby Boomers, who want to live and learn near a college of choice. The appeal of these college-affiliated retirement communities are a host of stimulating activities: reading, learning, libraries, stimulating discussions, interacting with young people - within an easy reach.

North Carolina's The Pines at Davidson College, boasts "the friendly ambience of a small village along with the intellectual excitement of one of the finest liberal arts colleges in the nation." A recent New Yorker magazine ad touted the benefits of living near Ohio's Oberlin College campus, and reference was made to over 400 cultural annual events to enhance the lifestyle of retirees in the shadow of their ivy halls.

Lifestyle :: The Hottest New Real Estate Amenity: Extreme Sports

American Sports Data's sports marketing research over the past fifteen years has shown that an increase in sports participation trend is clearly correlated with consumer purchases. No where is this more evident than in real estate, where taking sports facilities and experiences to the extreme is the newest, hottest amenity.

Take The Laurel condos in Manhattan. If residents aren't in shape when they bought their apartments, they will have no excuse after they move in. The gym's state-of-the-art triathlon training center means to turn residents into enthusiasts, with three pools, top-shelf biking equipment, and a running circuit made specifically for aspiring Ironmen.
